the IWGA Annual conference
is now the
iowa specialty producers conference!
THURSDAY, JANUARY 23 & FRIDAY, JANUARY 24, 2020 | FFA ENRICHMENT CENTER - ANKENY
The Iowa Wine Growers Association has held an annual conference since 2001 with many changes over the years, though one thing has remained the same - dedication to the growth and sustainability of the grape and wine industry here in Iowa. This year's event holds true to that core value, though we do have some exciting changes to announce!
For nearly two years, the IWGA and other specialty crop producer groups have been researching, attending planning meetings and finally finalized plans for the newly created Iowa Specialty Producers Conference.
This new conference is a partnership between the Iowa Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association and the Iowa Wine Growers Association and made possible through *grant funding from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS).
We are excited to bring you the same quality sessions, speakers and exhibitors over the course of two days in January. The conference features keynote speaker John Stanley, a world-renowned retail consultant, speaker and author, as well as six breakout session tracks focusing on viticulture, enology, fruits, vegetables, other specialty crops and business/marketing. We're working to finalize the remaining sessions/speakers by the end of this month, with the conference schedule being updated on our website regularly. The complete schedule, including the other specialty crop-related tracks, will be available as soon as we have everything confirmed.
In addition, pesticide applicator continuing instruction credits will be offered for commercial applicators in category 1D and private applicators, offering the opportunity to **renew your license simply by attending our conference! For private applicators who have already been attending CIC classes, the program at our conference will count for recertification. Attendees will receive the same form from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship they are accustomed to, but this one will also include the category 1D training. So, if you are needing to renew your license soon, you'll be able to do so at this year's conference!
Another benefit to this year's conference is a reduction in registration prices, made possible through the IDALS grant funding. Registration will be opening in November, watch your inbox for the official announcement!
Don't worry, we'll still be hosting the most looked-forward to event of the year - our annual awards banquet!
We are so excited for the 2020 Iowa Specialty Producers Conference and hope to see you all there on January 23 & 24, 2020 at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny.
* Funding for the 2020 Iowa Specialty Producers Conference was made possible by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service through grant AM190100XXXXG016. Its contents are solely the responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of the USDA.
** Attendance at one of the qualifying breakout sessions, plus the required one-hour session at the close of the conference is required.
