Iowa Wine Trails

There are eight wine trails located across the state.

Iowa Wine Trail

Visit The Iowa Wine Trail, and its 11 participating wineries, by traversing the upper Mississippi Valley wine region at Anamosa, Baldwin, Bankston, Clinton, Decorah, Fredericksburg, Guttenberg, Marquette and West Branch. Sample well-crafted wines and ciders in the comfort of excellent and diverse tasting rooms among our heritage farms and vineyards, hilltop chateau, nestled river village, and Italian bistro.

I-80 Wine Trail

Traveling East or West on I-80, you’ll find 10 award winning wineries within 10 miles of the interstate. Follow the I-80 Wine Trail map to see how easy it is to turn your cross country drive into a wine tasting adventure. Take a ten to fifteen minute detour off the interstate highway to experience the ambience of the local wineries along the way. Sample some wine and then, if you have the time, kick back and relieve that driving stress with some relaxation in “wine country.” Don’t forget to pick up a few bottles of wine to share with your friends or family at your final destination!

Western Iowa Wine Trail

The 6 Western Iowa Wine Trail wineries are producing award-winning wines from “cold climate” grape varieties and locally produced fruits. The winemakers are always ready to visit about their unique wines and love to show off their wineries and vineyards. You’ll find that the wine and hospitality at our small wineries is excellent! Seven wineries currently dot the wine trail stretching from Elk Horn to Thurman and back to Crescent. All of the wineries along the trail offer free tasting (often poured by the winemakers themselves), local art works, and retail wine sales. Many offer sales of wine by the glass and food items to be enjoyed on their decks or in their tasting rooms.

Heart of Iowa Wine Trail

The Heart of Iowa Wine Trail is spread across much of the the central one third of the state from north to south. The Heart of Iowa Wine Trail is made up of 8 wineries working together to promote Iowa’s wine industry to both native Iowans and all the visitors we welcome annually to our beautiful state. We invite you to take a day or weekend trip to one or more of our wine trail wineries. We’re certain you’ll be delighted by your discoveries, and we promise you’ll meet some very friendly folks eager to serve you with quality wines, unique gift items and entertaining events.

Amana Colonies Wineries

Plan your next trip to the Amana Colonies, where you’ll have the opportunity to visit seven different wineries and shops nestled in the heart of Iowa.

Scenic Rivers Wine Trail

There are nine wineries on the Scenic Rivers Wine Trail, which covers the southeast corner of the state. Make the loop of wineries part of your next weekend trip!

Northwest Prairie Wine Trail

There are 15 wineries (and 3 brewery partners!) that make up the Northwest Prairie Wine Trail, which covers Iowa from just east of Interstate 35 west to the Iowa border and Highway 175 north to the Iowa border. Enjoy the regions prairie lands west to the Loess Hills of Iowa and taste some of the best wines of the Northwest region. We’re looking forward to meeting you.

Back Roads Wine Trail

There are four wineries included in Iowa's newest wine trail, each of which are located on, or around Highway 92 southeast of Des Moines, Iowa. Each winery has it’s own story, ownership, and products. The common thread is that each winery owner wants to invite you and other wine tourists to enjoy the fruits of their labor (pun intended) by offering great Iowa wine to those that seek a different experience.
