The Iowa State Fair Wine Experience is a partnership between the Iowa State Fair, Iowa State University Extension and the Iowa Wine Growers Association. The Iowa Wine Experience is hosted in Grandfather’s Barn up on the hill at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa, and features educational displays, wine sampling, the Commercial Wine Competition display and more. Outside, the infamous Grape Stomp competition takes place four times a day and industry speakers talk daily about various topics such as wine making, tasting tips, craft beer and mead, growing grapes, hop production, etc. 

The whole family is welcome up on the hill, where children can learn more about grapes at the “Grape Get-a-Way" or play outdoor yard games, while parents relax at the end of a long day at the Fair with a glass of local Iowa wine, beer or craft soda and evening entertainment.
