Iowa Wine Experience - Volunteers Needed!
Each year, the Iowa Wine Experience is hosted at Grandfather's Barn up on the hill through the duration of the Iowa State Fair and features educational displays, Iowa wine tasting and the Commercial Wine Competition, Amateur Oenology and Home Brewers Competition displays. Outside, the Grape Stomp competition takes place three times a day and we have a featured winery or industry related speaker daily. Kids can learn more about grapes at "Grape Get-a-Way!", or play one of the outdoor lawn games available, while you kick back and relax at the Fair with a glass of Iowa wine!
We couldn't pull off such a great event each year without the dedication and support from our wonderful volunteers. Our volunteers assist in three main areas: selling and serving Iowa wine tastings, assisting with the grape stomps, and signing up grape stomp teams/selling T-shirts & bottled wine.
We still need more volunteers throughout the Fair and could use your help!
Our volunteers work in one of three shifts daily; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1 to 5 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. Volunteers receive an entry ticket, parking pass and a FREE Iowa wine T-shirt in exchange for their time, plus we have the most FUN at the FAIR! Sound like something you’d be interested in? We’d love to have you join us at the 2019 Iowa Wine Experience at the Iowa State Fair!

Ticket(s) and parking pass(es) will be mailed out ahead of time, unless you sign up less than 3 days prior to your shift, in which case your credentials will be left for you to pick up at the Volunteer Will-Call Office, which is a small blue building located on the southwest corner of the Fairgrounds, just off Dean Ave. and 30th St. If you have questions, contact us by email or call/text 515-664-7754 (best way to contact us is texting during the Fair).
