After many months of hard work our Iowa Wine and Beer App is now available for downloading. You can link to the Apple App store through our website – www.iowawineandbeer.com (http://www NULL.iowawineandbeer NULL.com). You’ll find the link on the right hand side. I’m also pleased to tell you that we are getting a lot of great response from the media.
Why build an app?
Research is showing us that American’s are going mobile. Studies are showing that by the end of this year, 1 out of 2 American’s will own a smart phone and in a few years, 50% of internet traffic will be from a mobile device. We are very excited to offer travelers a new way to discover all of the wonderful wineries and breweries across Iowa.
What does the app include?
· This app is for Apple products: iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches
· Our App is the first to feature both Wineries and Breweries.
· Your complimentary listing includes: Business name, logo, contact information, amenities and description. Users will be able to search by business name or by city.
· GPS: The app features GPS navigation and maps. Static maps are also included should the user lose their wireless signal.
· Photos: You have the option to add photos to your listing (if you haven’t already done so). Send in your photos at any time. The app will be periodically updated throughout the year.
Why is it only for Apple products?
We created the app just for the Apple products because Apple has the largest portion of the market. Creating an app is no easy task and to create an app for another brand is basically the same as starting from scratch. Rather than creating app after app, our next step is to look at making the website mobile friendly. Making the website mobile friendly will allow any mobile device to access our information.
When is it officially announced?
A press release announcing the new app and the new directory was sent out today and an e-mail blast to our database (2000 names) announcing the new app will go out soon as well.
How can I help promote the app?
The Promotion Board has printed coasters, bottle tags, stickers and signs promoting the new app. If you did not take the opportunity to get some of our promotional items for your business please let me know. We did order some extras, but they are already going fast! If you did order some products, they are being shipped out this week.
